What is Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)?
Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation (also known as
PM&R or Physiatry) is a medical specialty
that involves the process of restoring function for
a person who has been disabled as a result of a
disease, disorder or injury. A Physiatrist often
treat patients with musculoskeletal, cardiovascular,
and neurological and other conditions. Care is aimed
at maximizing recovery in the physical,
psychological, medical, vocational and social areas.

Goals are to
provide customized and timely out-patient Physical
Medicine and Rehabilitation Services to adult
patients with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular
conditions. Dr. Linda Barrows works in partnership
with her patients. She will communicate as needed
with your primary care physician, medical
specialists and any other team members to facilitate
your diagnosis, treatment and other rehabilitation
needs. Patient education also plays a very important
role in her total patient care.
